September 15, 2004Search and TranslateTwo (minor) features have been improved: the site search is now powered by the Google search engine. Google has most of the relevant pages of PlayChess in its database. Now you can even search for player names. The second improvement is already active since 1-2 weeks. We know use the free translation service of IBM for most languages. These translations seem to be better than the other ones we had tried before. Thank you to both services for their excellent work! Spanish translation is fine and works better than the one we had before. In my case, the translation is made from English to my own language but not the other way round, I mean, if i want to chat with an italian or russian player, we both do it in english but we receive back the answer translated. For very short sentences the translation doesn't work well. For example 'draw' also means 'paint' :-) Any way, I am very glad to have this utility and the option to use.
