September 13, 2006Conditional moves - last orders, please! An improved version of our conditional moves has just been uploaded. Now, you can enter several (even longer) variants that differ only some moves later. For example, you (as Black) enter the move sequences The game goes 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 (until here, all three variants are still possible). After 3.Bb5 a6, however, the third variant is deleted from the database, because this CM sequence is no longer possible. Only the variants This is the last test phase. If everything goes well, I will activate CM for tournament games next weekend. Alas - this is a member-only feature. Posted by Thomas Stahl at September 13, 2006 10:38 PMComments
Sorry, I'm confused. What did you change? No, there had been an error: After 1.e4 e5 the server would have reduced the 3 variants to only one. But you are right: the above behaviour is what one would have expected from the start. Interestingly, nobody noticed that error. Posted by: Thomas Stahl at September 14, 2006 07:52 AMWhy do I get this message? "Conditional moves are not allowed for this game." http://playchess.de/games/HCL-A2850-13/condMoves Posted by: k_a_n_i_b_a_l at September 14, 2006 09:56 PMI just realize that CM are only for private games... sorry... Posted by: k_a_n_i_b_a_l at September 14, 2006 10:00 PMWhen you click on COND and get to the board that allows you to make conditional moves: If you click on a piece before clicking the NEW MOVES button, you get an error message that says "MISSING:T051." I forgot to upload the language file for translators. "Normal" users already saw the correct message - sorry. Thanks for notifying! Posted by: Thomas Stahl at September 16, 2006 10:32 AMIs it an error? Conditional moves in e mail chess are just fuine. You can hold an game undre pressure and makes it a little faster. Posted by: ZorMaster at September 17, 2006 07:16 AMIt would be nice to add "any opponent move" to the sequence. It is useful for positions with forced checkmate for example - nevermind what move my opponent makes, I mate in the same manner. Posted by: golddim at September 26, 2006 04:30 PMHello there!
