January 29, 2004Corus 2004 - ResultsThe 66th Corus tournament in Wijk aan Zee (Netherlands) is over. Anand won ahead of Leko and Adams, Kramnik finished (only) 6th. But for me the most interesting result is the winner of the C-tournament, Magnus Carlsen from Norway - with 10.5 out of 13 games, that's 81 percent! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 1 2 3 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. January 18, 2004PCO - 3rd roundThe start of the 3rd round will be on Tuesday, 2004-01-20 00:00 GMT. I removed 9 players from the tournament, who either lost their first two games on time and/or left PlayChess completely.

January 16, 2004Corus 2004Another year has gone by: the Corus Grandmaster tournament is already in its 5th round. Once again, this tournament is a top event with players like Kramnik, Anand, Leko, Adams, Svidler, Shirov, Topalov, ... not Kasparov (alas). You can follow the games at the official web site www.coruschess.com or at www.ruschess.com, the last one offering Grandmaster analysis of the games. Today, I recommend the game Akopjan - Sokolov. This game demonstrates that the "good old" Ruy Lopez is still alive...
